Vietnam Address Assistant is a Shopify app published by lisive. It is free — there is no charge of any kind. It helps buyers confirm their Vietnamese shipping address under the two-tier administrative model of 34 provinces and 3,321 wards, effective 1 July 2025.
1. Information We Collect
- Store information. The Shopify shop domain, the OAuth access and refresh tokens Shopify issues to the app, the granted scopes, and the install and uninstall timestamps. This is the only information the app stores in its own database.
- Order shipping addresses. Held in memory for the duration of a single request, then discarded. Never written to the app's database, never logged. The app receives only the seven address fields it needs to identify a province and ward — street lines, city, province, province code, postal code and country code. The buyer's name, phone number, email address and company are stripped before the address reaches the server and are never transmitted to it.
- The street address the buyer types. The house number and street name the buyer enters themselves on the order confirmation (Thank you) page. The field is required and opens empty: the app does not pre-fill it, does not infer it, and does not copy it from the checkout address. What the buyer types is held in memory for the duration of a single request, then discarded. It is never written to the app's database and never logged.
- Diagnostic information. Application logs and error reports containing identifiers, codes and status flags only — never buyer names, emails, phone numbers or addresses.
2. How We Use It
Address data is used only to pre-select the likely province and ward for the buyer on the order confirmation (Thank you) page, and to write the address the buyer confirms back to that same order. It is used for no other purpose, and it is never combined with data from any other store or any other source.
Nothing is ever written unless the buyer presses Confirm. There is no automated flow that touches orders.
When the app reads an order from Shopify it requests only three fields — the order's creation date, its existing custom attributes, and the first line of its shipping address — which are what it needs to confirm the request came from the buyer looking at that order. It does not request the customer record, the line items, or the payment details.
We do not sell data, do not share it with third parties, and do not use it for advertising or profiling.
3. Where Results Are Stored
The confirmed result is written to the order as four custom attributes:
| Attribute | Holds |
|---|---|
vaa_address |
the house number and street name the buyer typed themselves (required) |
vaa_province |
the province or city, as code:name |
vaa_ward |
the ward, as code:name |
vaa_delivery_note |
the delivery note (optional, omitted if left blank) |
It is also written to the order as one metafield, shown as VAA full address —
namespace lisive, key address, type single_line_text_field — holding a
single string in the form <address>, <ward>, <province>. That metafield is
purely a joined-up copy of the attributes above; it contains nothing else. The
app creates the matching metafield definition on the store so the merchant can
see this field on the order page in the Shopify admin.
The app never modifies the order's original shipping address
(shippingAddress). The confirmed result goes only into the custom attributes
and the metafield. The address the buyer entered at checkout is always left
completely intact, and the store retains it in Shopify for the life of the
order, independent of the app.
Both the four attributes and the metafield are written only when the buyer presses Confirm themselves. If they do not press it, the order stays exactly as checkout left it.
Custom attributes set on the order by the store's checkout or by other apps are preserved. The app adds its four keys alongside them and removes nothing.
4. Retention and Deletion
The app keeps no copy of any buyer address, name, email or phone number, so a customer redaction request has nothing to erase.
On uninstall, the store record (shop domain and access token) is marked inactive and the app stops making any API call on the store's behalf. The record is deleted when Shopify sends the shop redaction request, which follows an uninstall by approximately 48 hours. The access token stops working the moment the app is uninstalled, independently of when the record is removed.
Attributes already written to orders stay with those orders and are the merchant's to delete.
5. Subprocessors
The app runs on infrastructure operated by lisive and communicates only with Shopify's APIs. No buyer data is sent to any other service.
6. Your Rights
Merchants can request access to, correction of, or deletion of the data the app holds about their store by emailing hello@lisive.com.
Shopify's mandatory compliance webhooks are handled as follows. A shop redaction request deletes the store record automatically, with no manual step. A customer redaction request needs no action, because the app holds no customer data to erase. A customer data request is acknowledged automatically and answered by a person within the 30 days Shopify allows; the answer is that the app holds no data about that customer.
7. Changes
Material changes update the date at the top of this page. Merchants are notified by email at the address on file with Shopify when a change affects how data is handled.
